Spring Cleaning Tips
Now is a great time to take a look around your home and make decisions about de-cluttering and recycling. Maybe you've added a few magazine subscriptions during the past year and just hated to part with some of those great magazines with pertinent articles or recipes. You don't have to get rid of all of them ... just part of them.
Grab a file folder and a stack of magazines. Label one file "Recipes" and then go through the magazines and start cutting and tearing. Either cut the recipe from the page or detach the whole page and put it in your folder. Maybe there are some treat tips for care and maintenance of indoor and outdoor plants. Do the same with those - label a file "Gardening Tips" and place those articles in the file.
You might even find articles about Spring Cleaning - again, label a file "Spring Cleaning Tips" and place the articles in the file. Then you can gather up the files and put them into a cardboard storage box or into a file cabinet in your office or garage and have them available anytime you wish to review them.
Take the old magazines to the recycle station.
How about collectibles? I love to go to thrift stores, second hand stores and antique stores. I have several collections of themed knick-knacks. Before hiring professionals to come to your home and do your spring cleaning - which includes washing and dusting your knick-knacks, this is a good time for you to use a little tough love. Decide if you really need the little ceramic swan with the chipped wing. Make the decision about which items add value to your collection and which are just dust-catchers. Make the cut and trundle the less than perfect items back to the thrift store.
Learning and using a few de-cluttering skills will make your spring cleaning a breeze - refreshing!
